International Community School (ICS) is located in the modern, efficient, island nation of Singapore. Job Summary:
An Elementary School visual arts teacher at ICS must have a strong understanding of standards based assessment and have experience closing the achievement gap; They must also develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially and emotionally. The teacher should be confident in incorporating technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom with enthusiasm and also believe in collaboration with other colleagues and promote understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment. All ICS teachers are faithful followers of Jesus who lovingly models Christian values and has a heart for sharing Christ with students.

General  Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on art lessons for elementary students in alignment with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives. 
  • Introduce students to various art forms, techniques, and media, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art.
  • Foster an appreciation for art history and cultural diversity through lessons that incorporate artists, styles, and traditions from around the world.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to encourage improvement and creativity.
  • Organize and display student artwork in classrooms, hallways, and school exhibitions to celebrate their achievements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to creative expression. Manage art supplies and resources, ensuring availability and proper use.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Encourage a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports all students’ artistic exploration.
  • Stay current on art education trends and best practices to continuously enhance teaching methods.
  • Assess student learning and progress toward learning standards regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Maintain proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises utilizing teacher created discipline plans in conjunction with a school-wide discipline plan.
  • Employ a variety of instructional aides, methods, and materials that will promote best practices in order to reach the whole child, as stated in the ICS mission statement.
  • Lead Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) for students to earn a minimum of three points of ECA credit. This includes planning, organizing, and supervising activities that enhance students' skills, interests, and overall development outside of the regular curriculum
  • Ensure Biblical Worldview Integration throughout the curriculum.
  • Complete lesson/unit plans, Atlas, ESO documentation, and PLC expectations within specified time frames.
  • Plan and lead a student Chapel when called upon.
  • Attend and participate in devotions, teachers’ meetings, evening programs (if involving his or her students or as requested by the administration), and other meetings as assigned.
  • Carry out supervisory recess duty as assigned (before school, break, lunch, after school).
  • Maintain a classroom in a clean and educationally stimulating environment.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade reports that provide comprehensive information for each student’s learning progress.
  • Inform the administration if/when unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
  • Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher.. Submit all appropriate reports to the administration, guidance office, and business office as required by school regulations or as requested.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and other professional staff regarding student progress (behavioral and academic).
  • Demonstrate the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality.

Qualifications:  
Current state or provincial issued teacher certification, Minimum of 2 years teaching/admin/business experience, Minimum of an undergraduate degree, Experience Teaching in an international or cross-cultural environment, ACSI Certification, Masters degree preferred
