Job Summary

Teach ESL based on the individual needs of the individual LEP student.
Plan ESL lessons using appropriate materials and strategies for the particular grade level and English proficiency level based on WIDA Standards.
Foster the confidence and skills students need to be successful in the classroom.
Support Standard Course of Study expectations by teaching required skills and supporting content during the course of ESL lessons. Be aware of minimum promotion standards for each grade level.
Foster a love for books and reading in any way possible.
Promote writing!
Provide suggestions to mainstream teachers for modifying daily instruction and assessment.
Teach the language/comprehension of word problems and problem-solving.
Be knowledgeable about and advocate for appropriate referrals to assistance teams, appropriate interventions, schedules, credits, and appropriate referrals for testing.

Qualifications

Current state or provincially issued teacher certification/ACSI Certification

Minimum of an undergraduate degree

Specific Skills

Willing to work with students and families that speak Spanish only.
