School Background:
Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) is a K-12 school in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania located in the tropics on the east coast of Africa with a gorgeous view of the Indian Ocean. HOPAC began in 1994 by missionaries and quickly expanded. We now have just over 400 students from 15+ countries. We serve missionary kids, Tanzanian students (our demographic majority), and expatriate students, offering an international curriculum (Cambridge) taught from a Biblical worldview.
Job Summary:
At HOPAC we seek educators who combine professional expertise with a ministry-minded approach to their work with students. They should demonstrate a growth mindset, an eagerness to embrace a cross-cultural environment, and a commitment to developing their skills in teaching from a Biblical worldview. They should have a desire to serve and guide students in service, stewardship and leadership.
General Responsibilities:
- Teach Elementary
- Creating a learning environment in which each child in the class is enabled to work
- Instructing the students in accordance with the school curriculum and best practices in teaching and learning
- Maintaining discipline within the classroom to enable students to work and learn
- Attending and participating in regular staff meetings, in-service trainings, parent consultations and back to school nights
- Providing input into curriculum revision and unit plan development
- Keeping records of students’ progress as appropriate and providing written reports each term for the parents
- Agreeing to adhere to any reasonable request made by the Principal or Director.

Qualifications:
3 years teaching experience
Bachelor degree in education or Bachelor degree in subject taught
Teacher qualification
Teaching experience in an international or cross-cultural environment
Specific Skills:
Experience Teaching Primary preferred
